PENRYN ATHLETIC 3
FALMOUTH TOWN 0
FALMOUTH Town were out of this game by half-time after Penryn Athletic had built a match-winning lead in this Jolly's Combination League clash at Kernick Road.
It took Athletic just three minutes to carve out a goalscoring opportunity when Steve Owen scored from close range following David Thompson's corner.
Athletic were well on top in the opening half and were denied by the crossbar following a 20-yard shot by Steve Brewer.
Brewer had better luck on the half hour when he headed in Thompson's corner, but as the half wore on Town came a little more into the game.
Bobby Bryant made a determined run, but saw his shot pushed away by Symon Winnan and then Winnan came to his side's rescue again when he tipped a shot from Matt Roberts over the bar.
Brewer's love-affair with the crossbar was re-enacted just before the break when he saw the woodwork shake following another well-struck volley that had the 'keeper beaten.
Town were a different side in the second half and looked quite dangerous with Winnan denying Nathan McIntosh with a fine save and then saw the follow-up shot go wide of the upright.
Athletic wrapped up the points with a third goal when Steve Brewer touched the ball on to Darren Martin who crossed for Lee Jeffery to shoot home.
Athletic continued to create chances with Will Scoley shooting wide from close range and Matt Prynn parrying an effort from Shaun Halford.
