KEITH Rashleigh carded a fine net 64 on Sunday at Budock Vean Golf Club to win the prestigious English Golf Union gold medal.
Keith's round included an impressive run of nine pars in the last 11 holes. "I can't remember the last time I parred Amen Corner' (the 14th, 15th, and 16th holes)," said Keith.
This saw him win by three shots from runner up Brian Martin and third placed Roger Mildren, both returning respectable net 67s.
The event was generously sponsored by Fuller's London Pride and the club winner receives a case of London Pride and the chance of three rounds of golf at The Bracken Course, Woodhall Spa, cocktail party and welcome dinner, two nights' accommodation as well as the gold medal.
Simon Minter grabbed the solitary back nine two, chipping in from short of the 15th to scoop the £43 jackpot.
On Wednesday ladies' handicap secretary Mae Brown won the ladies' Stableford event with a fine haul of 36 points. Runner up was Ann Martin who just pipped Shirley Mildren on the countback, both carding 34 points.
This Sunday the men compete for the ETS cups in teams of three with the best total aggregate counting.
