IT was billed as master versus pupil, but when it came to the crunch it was the pupil who made the master take a back seat.
The class in question was Cornwall Snooker's Singles Handicap Championship and at the end of seven tense frames Bell's Court boss Paul Williams had to concede defeat to one of his young prodigy's - Bobby Southworth.
Overall the final, which attracted a big crowd, was a little scrappy with the match hinging on the final frame.
Williams, who had to concede a 14 points start, made a 35 break before missing a simple red and that let in Southworth who won the championship with a 53 break.
"I expected to beat young Bobby," said Williams "but I take my hat off to him. He played very well."
It's another big month for Andy Hicks, the club's professional, who will be travelling to Sheffield to take part in the world championships at the Crucible. His opening skirmish is against Ali Carter, ranked 15 in the world.
