A PAIR of talented young players have been brought into the Cornish Pirates team for next season under the club's Player Development Foundation scheme.
Tommy-Lee Southworth and Rhys Brownfield have been signed by the Greene King IPA Championship club through the project which aims to nurture young players from the Duchy.
Southworth is 18 and comes from Redruth where he featured as a prop last season while Brownfield, a fly-half/centre, has come through the Mennaye Men's youth ranks and has been part of the Pirates Amateurs side.
Director of rugby Ian Davies said: "The PDF proved successful last season and being the premier club in the county we naturally feel duty bound to support talented Cornish youngsters by giving them an opportunity to reach their full potential.
“Tommy-Lee and Rhys have adapted well to the pre-season training and we envisage them both continuing to improve as the season goes on.
"Their time with us will be complimented with match time with local club rugby."
