The success story of the Falmouth Docks Table Tennis Club goes from strength to strength and one if its newest stars is young Charlie Martin from Falmouth, who has just returned from Stoke-on-Trent following an impressive display in the English Schools under 12 Championships.
This season, Charlie's game has improved beyond recognition and he is now one of the Docks' brightest stars for the future.
In March he won the Cornwall under 12's championships and in the same month he won the Cornwall Schools under 12's title which qualified him for the national finals at Stoke.
The competition at Stoke was very fierce with Charlie finding himself in the same group as the current England no. 1 and England no. 10. However, he gave a superb performance against both opponents and pushed the England no. 10 all the way, losing narrowly in each set. He also won his remaining game and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final stages.
Charlie is currently the Falmouth and Penryn under 12 Champion and represents Falmouth Docks E in the West Cornwall League.
