TRURO CITY 3

FALMOUTH TOWN 1

FOR 45 minutes Falmouth Town were very much in this Jolly's Combination League Supplementary Cup quarter-final, but they faded in the second half to allow Truro City to run out comfortable winners.

In the opening half Town gave a good account of themselves, but like City found it difficult to find a way through a tight and well organised defence.

Nathan McIntosh went closest to scoring for Town when he ran on to a through ball and hit a well-struck shot inches over the bar.

Town were knocking on the door, but the final ball to the front men was lacking in quality and in the 20th minute they found without cover following an attack. After drawing the final defender Steve Winnan slid the ball to Luke Wort who thumped in a shot that despite Matt Prynn got a hand to was unable to prevent it ending up in the net..

Eight minutes later Town were back on level terms when Luke Appleton slipped a pass through to Bobby Bryant who beat the keeper with a lob from just outside the edge of the box.

As much as Town were bright and full of running in the first half, the second was a complete contrast as City took the game by the scruff of the neck and dominated possession.

City edged back in front with a second goal in the 65th minute when Luke Wort headed in a corner and ten minutes later City scored a third goal when Winnan crossed for Martin Moon to head past Prynn.

Town showed more spirit towards the end, but it was all a little too late.
