AS morning rain gave way to a surprisingly bright afternoon, David Gudzij and Ian Scorse combined superbly on Sunday to win the International Pairs at Budock Vean Golf Club and representing Vean in the semi final in Scotland.

As anticipated it was a keenly contested competition and only a dramatic 30 foot putt by Gudzij on the last hole won the day, not to mention an even more impressive "chip in" by the same player from 40 yards on the 13th hole.

Ian Scorse also played a full part in amassing the pair's six birdies on their way to a splendid haul of 44 points. Runners up were Tony Ramsden and his son Chris with an impressive total of 43 points including 24 points on the back nine and the only "two" of the day by Tony at the 15th.

Third with a fine haul of 42 points were Richard Burton and Keith Rashleigh.

On Wednesday the ladies held their Autumn Meeting where Shirley Mildren won the Jackson Cup with a fine net 73. Runner up was Gill Sulley and third was Nalda Grimmer both carding net 75.

This Sunday there is a change to a three- man team competition.
