WITH only nine weeks left of the league season, the players are clamouring to get into one of the top 16 league places or at the very least into a play-off position in the Buffs Poker League.
The season ends on the November 30 with those top 16 players and five from the play-offs going into the end of year Champions League Final. The winner of the final gets an all-expenses paid 10-day cruise for two around the Caribbean.
At the Penryn's RAOB Buffs Club on Wednesday it was Andy Jenkin's turn to record his first overall win of the campaign which has given him an excellent chance of a play off place. Adrian "Beppe" Morris - one of the most improved players this season - took second place whilst Rob Lilly continued his impressive run of results with third place.
Thursday at Redruth's Royal British Legion saw last year's league champion Gareth Fulcher notch up his fourth win of the season to stay eighth in the Champions League. Fast improving Tony Bardoe took second place whilst university bound Josh Popperwell signed off for the season with third.
The Famous Friday Freezeout at Penryn's RAOB Buffs Club attracted a field of 48 players. Wayne Lawrence survived a topsy turvy final table to take first place whilst James Page took second. James' efforts have now pushed him into a play-off berth. Anthony "Midas" McDonald took third place to keep his dreams of a Caribbean holiday alive. Mark Page's seventh place was enough to scrape himself into the elite top 16.
All players are very excited at the news that Sky Sports will be coming to film at Penryn's RAOB Buffs Club on Friday, October 5.
