FALMOUTH Golf Club captain Paul Collins officiated at his final competition on Saturday as his 12 months as captain draws to a close.

Paul organised a 18-hole Stableford competition with individual prizes for the ladies and gents and conditions were ideal with over 90 members entereing the competition.

There was the customary on-course entertainment - Crispen Merritt recorded the best front nine-hole score with 22 points and Duncan Wright the best back nine with 24 points. Alan Bulpin won nearest the pin on the fifth hole with 4 feet 4 inches for the gents and Wendy Plummer was nearest the pin on the second hole for the ladies with five feet six inches.

Dan Phillips won the longest drive for the gents and Janet Thomas for the ladies and Harry Keene won nearest the pin on the par five 18th (third shot) with an eagle.

The ladies competition was won by Wendy Plummer with a solid performance scoring 36 points. Audrey Pitt was second with 34 points, ladies' vice captain Mo Hammond was third with 31 points and ladies captain Hazel Mulcahy was fourth with 30 points.

The gents competition was dominated by one man, Harry Keene. Harry had the game of his life on Saturday that included an awesome 27 points on the front nine holes and 21 points on the back nine including an eagle on the 18th!

James Cloke was second with a very respectable 43 points, Mark Richards, Tony Annear and Daniel Keen all recorded 42 points and were eventually separated on count-back and finished third, fourth and fifth respectively. Richard Rag finished sixh and vice -captain Chris Beer was 7th.

Results - Ladies competition: 1, Wendy Plummer, 36 pts; 2, Audrey Pitt 34, 3, Mo Hammond, 31; 4, Hazel Mulcahy, 30.

Gents' competition: 1, Harry Keene, 48 points; 2, James Clok,e 43; 3, Mark Richards, 42; 4, Tony Annear, 42; 5, Daniel Keen, 42; 6, Richard Rag, 40; 7, Chris Beer, 40.

The Trophies for the competition winners throughout the year were presented on Saturday evening and were: Alan Goldsmith Tidd Trophy, Brian Shovlin Richard Brian Cup, Brian Stephens Frank Harris Cup, Colin Ross Matchplay Shield, Dougie and Val Graham John Sizer Memorial, James Cloke McLeod Cup, John Campbell and Joe Durkin Phillips Foursomes, Luke Durkin Spring Medallion, Mike Goodwin and Roger Fairburn Spring Fourball, Paul Campbell Jack McGregor Trophy, Robert Tongue Devenish Trophy, Ryan Chinn Percy Gilbert Trophy and Todd Butler Junior Clubman of the year.
