DANIEL Phillips, 15, became one of the youngest winners of the Admiral Harrison Scratch trophy alongside John Roberts at Budock Vean Golf Club on Sunday.
The final, played over 36 holes, saw Daniel win by two and one over golf manager Tony Ramsden. Having seen Dan play the first 18 holes in gross 71 for a halfway lead of four up, Tony fought back superbly in the afternoon.
The defining moment, however, came at the 15th hole when Phillips chipped in from under the trees for a remarkable birdie two just as the match was at a crucial stage.
The three-man team event was well won by the triumvirate of Brian Martin, David Gudzij and Nick Bryant. Seven points behind were Chris Mason, Don McFarlane and Richard Whatmore. Third were Richard Burton, Ian Scorse and Keith Rashleigh.
