Falmouth ladies 2nd XI 5
Bodmin 0
FALMOUTH fielded a very strong 2nd XI for their first league match of the season which saw them face Bodmin who were relegated from Trelawney 2 last season.
It took half an hour for Falmouth to break through, despite dominating possession and keeping the ball in the Bodmin half. When it did come, the goal came from a penalty corner shot from Amy Tatlow, which was touched in by Heather Beal on the far post.
In the second half, Falmouth had even more of the attack with player of the match, Donna Parkes, controlling the midfield. Caroline Hobbs scored with a well-angled shot before Tatlow converted with a short range shot. Falmouth made it four when Becky Gallimore fired the ball home after a goal mouth scramble.
Falmouth's final goal came from another penalty corner, when a good strike from Tatlow was deflected past the goalkeeper by her own defender.
Throughout the game the Falmouth defence was strong, with Jean Phillips and Michelle Hares covering any breaks made by the Bodmin attack, giving Fleur Bunyan a quiet afternoon in the Falmouth goal.
