MAWNAN Football Club is looking forward to two special occasions at the end of the month.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of competitive football at the club, but rivalling that achievement is the contribution of one of its members, David Rickard, who is being honoured by the Football Association for 50 years' service to the village club.
David joined the club in the 1957-58 season and has been an ever present either as a player or on the committee. He is currently the club's chairman.
The club is anxious to make contact with all former players, especially those who played around the 1970s when the club achieved the double in the Falmouth-Helston League. Willie Hurley, Micky Quiller and Timmy Hill are some of those who the club would like to hear from.
However, it is not only those players who club officials would like to see, but anyone who has played for them during the past would be warmly welcomed.
The presentation and reunion takes place at the Carwinion Road Field clubhouse on Friday, October 19, from 8.00 pm onwards.
