Rhys battles illness to card stunning round at US Open
Cornish golfer Rhys Enoch had a US Open debut to remember back in June. Glandular fever obtained on the eve of the tournament saw the Truro Golf Club man slump to a seven-over-par round that left him near the bottom of the leaderboard and in serious danger of missing the cut at Pebble Beach in California.
But Rhys, still suffering from the effects of glandular fever, shot a five-under-par second round of 66 to rise up the leaderboard and make the cut – a score which only three people have ever beaten on that course in a US Open.
Enoch, who represents Wales but was born in Truro, scored seven-over-par over the four rounds to finish 71st.

Ward heads winner in Senior Cup final
Falmouth Town had to do it the hard way to secure their first Cornwall Senior Cup title for 22 years in April this year. Town, in their first final since last winning the competition in 1997, fell behind to a third-minute goal from Saltash United, only for captain Joe Cooper to level three minutes later.
The score remained the same until the 80th minute, when defender James Ward rose to head home David Broglino's corner at the back post in front of the jubilant F-Troop for what proved to be the winning goal.

Seti's late try secures County Championship crown
Cornwall bounced back from an awful 2018 County Championship campaign to win their sixth title in June of this year, beating Cheshire 14-12 in a nailbiting final at Twickenham.
It looked as if Cheshire were going to pip the 14-man Cornwall team - after Jack Oulton had been sent off - to the title, but Plymouth Albion flanker Seti Raumakita stepped forward to score a dramatic 87th-minute try to level the scores and send the travelling Trelawny's Army wild, with Matt Shepherd kicking the all-important conversion to secure the Black and Gold's famous comeback win with the final kick of the game.

Jack keeps Town's Vase dream alive
Falmouth Town certainly loved a comeback in 2019, and Andrew Westgarth's side pulled off a spectacular one in their FA Vase second round proper tie at home to Gloucestershire side Longlevens in November.
Two goals down with just one minute left of the 90, Luke Brabyn halved the deficit from the penalty spot in the 90th minute, before Jack Webber fired in from 25 yards in the second minute of stoppage time to take the tie to extra time and complete an unbelievable comeback, with Brabyn scoring another penalty to win it in the 110th minute.

Cody comes off bench to bag first-ever professional hat-trick
St Mirren supporters will certainly remember former Penryn College pupil Cody Cooke's first professional hat-trick, which the forward achieved in some style in May.
Facing a relegation play-off if his St Mirren side failed to win their final Scottish Premiership game of the season at Dundee, Cody Cooke was introduced from the bench at the start of the second half with his side 1-0 down, and the former Truro City player went on to score three times and seal a 3-2 win.
Results elsewhere meant St Mirren had to face a play-off anyway, but they won it to ensure another season in the top tier.
