Saturday saw another very good turnout of 81 players for the three-man Summer Texas Scramble at Falmouth Golf Club, writes Keith Rashleigh.
The forecast of rain did not materialise and the course played well.
The triumvirate of Roger Fairburn, Andy Morris and Mike Sawden certainly combined superbly as they carded four birdies on the front nine gross of 30 and kept it going through the back nine with another four birdies for a gross 29. Their final total with the handicap adjustment was 54.0.
Runners-up were Mark Trewin, Mike Elliott and Simon Adams, who also played well to record four birdies on the front nine followed by five more on the back nine for a handicap adjusted total of 54.3.
Third were Luke Geach, David Blizzard and Ashley Bennett. After three birdies on the front nine they caught fire on the back nine as they jotted down seven birdies for a handicap adjusted total of 56.1.
- A very good number of Ogres played a three man team Stableford at Praa Sands Golf Club on Wednesday. The team of Gary Peters, Jeff Friggens and Jim Blain romped home with 88 points.
For the second week running the men held their Sunday session and it was good to see five new members testing themselves against our course.
The club is inviting ladies to join the club and enjoy good exercise, develop their golfing skills and extend their social circle.
Any new lady members will be made very welcome. The ladies section at the club is small but active with a nine-hole session on Wednesday mornings and a full 18 holes on Saturday afternoons.
New members are invited to pop along to the club or contact secretarypraasandsgolfclub@gmail.com
