Falmouth Golf Club held a three ball betterball (best two score counting at each hole) on Saturday, writes Keith Rashleigh.
Another good turnout by 87 players (29 teams) saw the triumvirate of Ashley Bennett, Dave Blizzard and Luke Geach combine superbly to take first prize.
Ashley carded birdies at the fourth, ninth, 12th and 16th, while Dave had birdies at the third and 13th.
Luke weighed in with a birdie at the 11th, and crowned by an eagle two at the 13th it was job done.
Their respective nines yielded 46 and 45 points for an aggregate of 91, which was enough to win by two points from Dave Cuffin, Dave Ambrose and Matt Roberts, who carded nines of 46 and 43 points.
Third were the trio of Tom Parry, Tom Matthews and Ronnie May with 88 points (42 and 46) and fourth was John Sanz, John Dack and Ray Smith also with 88 points (45 and 43).
Remarkably, there were two more eagles recorded at the par four 13th hole by Ian 'Henry' Churcher and Larry Lynch.
- Sunday’s men's competitive social medal at Praa Sands Golf Club saw Tony Boyce play exceedingly well, despite the strong winds, to come home with a nett 59.
Ray Crebo was second on 60 with David Prowse in third on countback with 64, bumping Alun Dixon into fourth.
Great enjoyment was had on Wednesday by The Ogres, who played a social yellowball Stableford.
The team of Phil Hales, Jeff Friggens, Ken Lawrence and Roy Hillyar won with 126 points, Allan Lawrence, Rodger Pearce and Richard Lyons were second on 123 points, while Andy Holmes, Joe Hill and Barry Knowles were third on 121 points.
