Supermum Helen Glover says making the team for Tokyo is the biggest achievement of her career.
The double Olympic champion from Truro set the sole goal of reaching the start line at a third Games, returning having given birth to three boys since 2019.
And now she's done it - picked this week to row in the pair in Tokyo alongside Polly Swann.
The greatest day of her rowing career came not in front of adoring hordes at Eton Dorney or toasting a second gold under the starry gaze of Christ the Redeemer in Rio.
Glover's golden moment came from a seat among the shells in the British team's boathouse at Caversham, reflecting on a pipe dream come true.
"This announcement is something that was just a nice dream to have," said the 34-year-old.
"It didn't feel like it was going to happen. It was just nice having that little daydream to train to and think about.
"My reality was very different, my reality was staying up all night with the twins and trying to fit in sessions here and there.
"To be here today is the biggest achievement of my career.
"Before it has always been about performance and about that result at the Olympics. This was not just about getting onto the team, it's what that represents."
Glover has won 20 successive international regattas in the pair, forming one of the modern era's finest crews with Heather Stanning.
Swann also contributed to that unbeaten streak and they combined to become world champions in 2013.
The pair won their first race back at the European Championships but whether they can overhaul New Zealand, Canada and Australia for gold is scarcely the point.
Glover is doing what no woman has done before and coming back from childbirth to represent Team GB on the rowing lake at the Olympics.
Swann, silver medallist in the eight in Rio, only returned from qualifying as a medic in 2019 and went back to the NHS frontline when COVID-19 broke out last year.
She hasn't rowed an Olympic stroke in anger in five years and Glover is already overcome by the public's response to her renaissance.
"It represents something to my children, this was showing them what commitment and passion looks like," added Glover, whose exploits in Tokyo will be broadcast live on Eurosport and discovery+.
"It is also for the wider community of people who have been so vocal in their support of me from when I announced my comeback.
"I thought maybe if I made the team, there would be a really nice positive outpouring, but it's amazing how much it came from saying I was going to try.
"I wanted to try, I could have failed and that makes today feel like much more of a moment than it ever has done.
"At my other two Olympics, it was a day to tick off in the journey. This feels like a moment I can celebrate and then get really excited and optimistic about what's to come."
