Falmouth Town Manager Andrew Westgarth was 'delighted' with his sides performance as they beat Bradford Town 2-1 in the FA Vase.

First half goals from Jack Bray-Evans and Luke Brabyn saw Falmouth into the next round.

They had to play more than 35 minutes with ten men as Kirk Davies was dismissed for a second bookable offence in the second half.

Speaking to the Packet after the game Westgarth said: "Another magical FA Vase game at Bickland Park, brilliant to see the guys at the end, the support, the kids here today. I think they will have been thoroughly entertained, we certainly made it hard for ourselves. They had a lot of chances at the end, we had to dig in, obviously going down to ten didn't help us but yeah a great cup game!

"We started the game really well, they had done their homework on us saying the ball is going to the back post for Wardy (James Ward), then it pops up for Jack Bray-Evans at the near post header. A great start to the game, sometimes that can work for or against you really. I thought they had some good players number 11 (Jake Brown) number 10 (Tyson Pollard) a very good player."

Westgarth was quick to praise his goalkeeper who made a number of vital saves including one from the penalty spot: "From their point of view they will be disappointed with the amount of chances they missed but FA Vase games have always been about attacking players but I thought today Ryan Barnes was top draw.

"Not only the penalty save but he made an unbelievable save in the first half. The Vase makes magical moments and this was a great one for Barnsey."

Kirk Davies was sent off for Town in the second half for a second bookable offence, touching on the red card Westgarth said: "Silly, Kirk should know better he is an experienced player.

"He had just had a yellow card then he goes and does that. He is disappointed, he knows he could have cost us but I think it showed the other side of our game. People have been talking all season about how good we are going forward but today we showed how good we were at the back as a unit."

Town's strength in depth showed as all of their substitutions made a strong impact on the game: "There's nothing like hitting the ground running." Said Westgarth. "It is hard enough anyway coming into the game as a sub in an FA Vase game with your backs against the wall.

"We were brave, most teams might have sat in and just played one up front but we thought we'd get two up front and stretch them with Alex (Wharton) to give their defenders some questions.

"We could have scored a few more in the second half, Brabyn's missed a chance Alex missed one, Barner missed one. Brabyn's chance could have been key to go 3-0 but then they score minutes after.

"I was pleased with the boys, obviously was a bit nervy the last five or ten minutes but overall delighted."

570 fans crammed into Bickland Park to witness the victory. The F Troop created a booming atmosphere and serenaded their team after the final whistle:

"I don't think people appreciate how good it is until you are here, when you actually here and you're feeling the noise. Like Wardy said in the week it is like a cauldron, it echoes and to be on the bench it was brilliant. To score in front of that must be the best thing ever!"
