Wendron United's manager Michael O'Neill believes his side are in a 'really good place' heading into the new South West Peninsula League West season.
Dron were the only absentee from the opening round of matches, but play their first game on Wednesday, August 10 as they travel to Mount Wise stadium to play Newquay AFC.
Newquay, also known as the Peppermints, shared the points in their curtain raiser with a 1-1 draw away to Bude on the weekend.
When asked whether he had an eye on the other results while his side weren't playing Wendron boss O'Neill said:"Yeah I did.The first couple of weeks I think is going to be funny in terms of different teams finding their feet and what sort of momentum the opposition have got from pre-season.
"I don't think you can read too much into it but three points on day one is the same as it is at the end of the season. I was keeping an eye for them but I wasn't too concerned."
"We are definitely ready for it, the squad is looking strong. We haven't got any additional injuries, we have a few players out but nothing that I don't think as a squad we are not able to cope with.
"The lads that are coming in I have complete trust in as well. We are in a really good place, I am really looking forward to it."
It has been a successful pre-season for Dron losing just one of their six matches in the build up to the campaign with a 5-1 loss to expected Western League highflyers Mousehole. Aside from that heavy defeat, four wins and a draw have got Dron in gear for the upcoming season with victories over Porthleven, Plymouth Argyle Development, Royal Navy U23's and Mousehole Development. While they shared the honours away at Ivybridge.
Underlane has been a hub of activity on the transfer front too, with four new acquisitions coming through the door with Ryan Reeve and Russell May both joining from recently folded Penryn Athletic, while Jacob Cleverly moved from Penzance and Cam Quirke will join in September on a dual basis signing with United Services Portsmouth who play at step five level.
Previewing their season opener on the north coast Mike O'Neill is expecting Newquay to be an exciting side this campaign, he said: "Pre-season results is tricky to read into.
"But from our previous experiences against them and knowing the players they have in their squad they will still be an exciting team this year.
"We will take nothing for granted, we had a great game down there last year and that was the start of our run and push towards the top end of the league.
"I'll be looking to use that as a bit of inspiration to put us on the right trick right from the first game.
We certainly won't be taking anything for granted from their pre season results of from their opening day result against Bude. We will be ready and prepared for them."
Kick off at Newquay is at 7:30 at the Mount Wise Stadium TR7 2BU
