Falmouth Town Reserves 8 Mullion Reserves 2
A fantastic win for the young St Piran side coming after last week's disappointing 2-1 loss away to St Agnes, writes Jon Perrow.
The team was strengthened with Charlie Edney making his first start for the club after his short time away and also Kian Thomas who was back from 1st team duties last week.
During the first ten minutes or so there was not much in it but then young Kian Thomas scored a superb 35 yard free kick which was worth the entrance money on its own.
Mullion then came back into the game, scoring from a corner and then again a minute later through an unfortunate own goal.
Town's young heads could have gone down but that was never in question with Edney replying and then Sam Mellor scoring , before a winning a penalty which he duly slotted home to keep his goal scoring up, making the score 4-2 at half time.
Town came out in the second half and the football was an absolute joy to watch, with Kian Thomas completing his hat trick and then the young subs Ethan Jorey and Jos Plummer coming on to score fine goals themselves, showing what strength and depth the squad has.
Zach Telling in goal pulled off a couple of superb saves in the second half to keep the score at 8 -2.
Manager Jon Perrow said: “A great win that sets us up nicely for our cup game against Culdrose next Saturday.
“Such a young squad with three 16 years old, two 17 years old and two 18 years old with the average age just 22 years old.”
