Helston Athletic FC enjoyed a ten-goal thriller against Weston Rovers in the Toolstation Western League on Saturday.
After surviving an early pitch inspection, the match got underway with a goal in the first two minutes.
Rikki Shepherd put Helston in the lead, after he met a quick cross from Tom Payne.
It only took six more minutes for the home side to double their lead.
A corner kick was met by Curtis Damerell, who made it 2-0 to Helston.
To pile on the misery for Weston Rovers, the flood gates well and truly opened.
Tom Payne and Jacob Smith didn't hold back and scored two goals in quick succession.
Rovers managed to stand firm for the last 20 minutes of the first half, and went into half-time 4-0 down.
The second half of the game started positively for the away side, with Weston Rovers demonstrating a stronger presence.
They managed to reduce the deficit, scoring to make it 4-1.
But Rikki Shepherd returned to haunt Rovers, initially restoring Helston's four goal advantage, before completing his hat-trick.
With the score sitting at 6-1 to the hosts, the goals did not end there.
A quick fire brace from Kai Cornish and a goal from Dave Barker continued the nightmare for the Weston Rovers defensive line.
The final score at Kellaway Park was Helston Athletic 9-1 Weston Rovers.
At the end of the game, Helston thanked their competitors, saying: "Thank you to our visitors for making the long trip.
"We wish you a safe journey home."
A deflated Weston Rovers spokesperson commented: "Not much to say about today's result, the boys are in for a long journey home.
"Helston AFC clearly made use of every opportunity they had!
"Thanks for your hospitality."
This victory catapults Helston to the top of the league table in the run-up to Christmas.
Their 41 points put them ahead of Clevedon Town who, whilst holding 39 points, still have a game in hand.
The team's win followed hot on the heels of another impressive victory from the Helston Women's team, who beat Bideford AFC Women 10-2.
