AS expected, St Day were finally crowned champions of the Kernow Stone St Piran Football League premier division after drawing 2-2 with Penryn Athletic at Kernick Road last Tuesday, writes Leon Prynn

Lifting the title puts them in a position whereby next season they will be playing in the Kitchen Kit South Western Peninsula League following a season in which, to date, they have remained unbeaten in the league.

They wrap up their campaign with games against Mousehole Development and Hayle with a Cornwall Intermediate Cup Final to come against St Dominick on Saturday.

Wendron United completed their campaign on a high after they beat St Just 4-1 with Ollie Sutton and Callum Bertrand both snapping up a brace of goals and Helston Athletic Development I defeated Falmouth Town Reserves by the same 4-1 scoreline after netting through Greg Eastman, Ollie Redd, Finn Costa and Tyreece Gallaway.

Penryn Athletic were unable to raise a side to play at Pendeen Rovers and the points were awarded to Rovers, but there was no problem for Porthleven who handed Perranwell a 3-1 defeat at Gala Park. Fraser Paterson, Rocco Hill and Dan Parker scored for Port and Justin Miles replied for Perran.

St Ives Town are in second place in division one on goal difference after a narrow 3-2 win at home to Ludgvan. Kieran Eastwood, Harvey Troon and Liam Cregan scored for Town with Andrew Curnow and Josh Findlay replying for Ludgvan.

With four games to play RNAS Culdrose are poised to take over that spot from Town after they also won a tight game 3-2 away to Camborne SoM. Daniel Hindmarsh, Braden Danaher and Jamie Thirkle scored for the servicemen.

St Agnes Res earned themselves a welcome point after goals from Bailey Stephens (2), Andrea Zuccarelli and Oliver Keverne earned them a 4-4 draw with Wendron United III.

Helston Athletic Development were 2-0 winners against Troon, but the match between Threemilestone and Praze-an-Beeble was not played and the points awarded to the ’Stones.

Just one game in division two saw Redruth United Reserves’ valiant attempt to overhaul New Inn Titans come to an end after they defeated Penzance Reserves 3-0. Titans clinched the title by virtue of a better goal difference.

Dropship are champions of division three after they beat Lanner 5-0 to claim the title by one point from Holmans SC. Tyler Prescott (2), Finley Thomson, Paul Robertson and George Gaylord had Dropship’s goals.

The runners-up spot is still undecided after Probus hammered St Ives Mariners 7-1 with goals from Sam Bullen (3), George Truscott (2), Justin Trebilcock and Tyler Cheshire. Probus need to beat Falmouth DC by 14 goals to deprive Holmans SC of second place.

RNAS Culdrose Reserves went down to a 4-2 defeat at home to Goonhavern Athletic and goals from Anthony Stott and Owen Fairclough earned St Keverne a 2-1 win at Falmouth DC.

The big clash in division four saw Mullion III draw 1-1 with rivals Perranporth to clinch the second promotion spot and champions Penryn Athletic Reserves were awarded the points after St Just Reserves failed to raise a side.

Constantine Reserves had their best win of the season when they defeated Troon Reserves 8-0 with goals from Paul Richards (4), Salim Salih, Thomas Corke, Jack Gardner and Ethan Jorey.
