Saturday saw the Baragwanath Trophy up for grabs at Falmouth Golf Club.
The competition had a reduced field of 54 golfers, due a 45-minute fog delay followed by heavy showers.
The competition format was stableford off white tees with 95% handicap allowance.
The better scores came from the afternoon rounds as the rain eased off with the better-than-expected forecast.
In third place with a total of 39 points, and winning on countback with back-to-back birdies on holes seven and eight, and five pars on the back nine, was Mark Trewin.
In second place with 41 points was Paul Syer whose round included four pars.
This year’s winner of the Baragwanath Trophy was Andy Parry with 42 points, who was back to his best form carding birdies on the eight and 15th, alongside eight pars.
Next week sees the last Major of the year, The Rider Cup, being played for at Falmouth Golf Club with 75 players already signed up to play.
Sunday at Falmouth Golf Club welcomed the ever-popular Royal Duchy Bowls mixed greensome competition, which had a total of 44 entries.
The weather had improved from the Saturday and the greens were in excellent condition and extremely receptive after the previous day's rain.
The event was, as always, kindly sponsored by the Brend Hotels group who had donated some fantastic prizes including meals and spa days.
The competition format on the day was a 27-hole mixed greensome, with nearest the pin prizes for ladies and gents on the 18th hole in the morning, and the seventh hole in the afternoon.
In third place with a total of 57 points was Chris and Ella Richards. In second place and just losing out on countback on the last six holes with 58 points was Mel Weerdmeester and Steve Forrest.
The winners of this year’s Royal Duchy Bowls, also with 58 points, but with a better back six, were Ladies Past Captain Letitia Rivett-Old and Mark Trewin.
Thanks went out to Falmouth Golf Club's mixed organiser Donna Craig for running the event, which was a great success and an enjoyable day for all.
