THE Kernow Stone St Piran Football League premier division (West) looks as though it is going to prove a tough competition to win with several clubs showing they will be involved in this season’s title race, writes Leon Prynn.
Illogan RBL made it six wins from six games when they chalked up a 2-0 victory away to Pendeen Rovers with goals from Connor Arthur and Jordan Knuckey.
Newly-promoted Praze-an-Beeble earned themselves a very good point when they held league leaders Falmouth Town to a 1-1 draw. Tom Craze scored for Praze and Charlie Edney for Town.
Snapping at the heels of the top two are Helston Athletic Development who handed Redruth United a 5-0 defeat with substitute Nat West helping himself to a hat-trick. Joe Baker and Ollie Redd had the other goals.
There was no shortage of goals at Lafrowda Park where St Just were held to a 4-4 draw by St Agnes. The visitors led 3-2 at half-time but St Just hit back to earn a draw with their goals coming from Ashley Ellis, Jack Willis, Stuart Nicholls and a 93rd minute goal by Jordan Rimmington. Aggie’s goals came from Ezekiel Prett (2) Duane Britton and Isaac Barrell.
Ben Allen-Bassett scored a third-minute goal for Penryn Athletic at home to Mullion, but it was the visitors who eventually ran out 3-1 winners with goals from Ryan Tonkin, Dominic Hanford and James Dark.
Last season’s runners-up Mousehole Development are finding the going tough this time round and went down to a 3-0 defeat to Perranwell who scored through Adam Casey, Justin Miles and Daniel Kim.
Porthleven gave a solid performance to defeat Hayle 2-0 with the goals coming from Harry Blatch and Fraser Paterson.
Two of the top three clubs in division one (West) fell to defeats with only Mawnan notching a win after beating St Day Reserves 7-2. Mawnan raced into a 4-0 half-time lead before taking their total to seven with goals from Adam Keenan (3), Luke Wort (3) and Dom Pullen. Jordan Richards had both Saints’ goals.
Illogan RBL Reserves suffered their first defeat when they were beaten 4-0 at home by Ludgvan and leaders Wendron United III were thumped 7-1 by St Ives Town at Underlane. Ross Duncan (2), Oakley Brom, Anthony Cornish, Liam Cregan, Jeff Robinson and Rafael Morales had Town’s goals whilst Kayden Hague scored for United.
Porthleven Reserves pulled off a fine 3-2 win at Camborne SoM with the goals coming from Riley Robertson (2) and Ryan Trathen. Alpha Briggs and an own goal were the SoM scorers.
West Cornwall lost their third home game after going down 5-3 to Penzance. The home side’s goals came from Ben Kellow (2) and Ben Dawe and the Magpies scored through Joe Gordon (2), Kyeron Snowden, Fin Sharp and an own goal.
Troon and Threemilestone shared the points at Grouter Park following a 2-2 draw with Oscar Johns and Lee Lawry scoring for Troon.
