THE Kernow Stone St Piran Football League (West) divisions had quite a successful afternoon in the first round of the Cornwall Intermediate Cup, with RNAS Culdrose pulling off a great 2-0 win against higher division opponents St Just, writes Leon Prynn.

Illogan RBL scored two second half goals through Robert Condie and Connor Arthur to win 2-0 at Gunnislake, but there was a surfeit of goals in Falmouth Town’s match at Pensilva where Town won 5-3 after trailing 3-2 with ten minutes to go.

Helston Athletic Development suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to division one East St Minver and Penryn Athletic also bowed out following a 3-2 defeat to Boscastle. Henry Dansie and Felix Braxton scored for Athletic.

Goals from John Wharton (2), Jordan Richards, Sunday Kuek and Jacob Cleverly powered Sty Day Reserves to a 5-2 win against Wadebridge Town Reserves.

Hayle had a resounding 7-0 win against AFC St Austell Reserves with goals from Callum Sidwell (2), Josh Bevis (2), Aaron Hicks, Kyle Hampton and Harvey Troon.

Camborne SoM went down 4-1 to Nanpean Rovers, but Porthleven overcame a potential banana skin with a 3-1 win at Looe Town with goals from Fraser Paterson, Dexter Bainbridge and Riley Robertson.

Pendeen Rovers enjoyed a great 5-0 win at St Breward and Praze-an-Beeble were convincing 3-0 winners at St Teath.

Mullion suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Callington Town Reserves whilst Launceston Reserves were 3-1 winners against Troon and St Ives Town overcame Morwenstow 4-1.

West Cornwall turned the tables on Penzance Reserves when they avenged last week’s defeat with a 5-2 win thanks to goals from Ben Kellow (2), Jowan Kitchener (2) and Lee Chambers. The Magpies scored through Adam Lewis and Kyeron Snowden.

Division two (West) leaders Dropship maintained heir 100 per cent record with a 5-3 win at Frogpool/Cusgarne, but ’Pool belied their league position with a terrific performance. Chris Webb (2) and Craig Jackson scored for ’Pool and Paul Robertson (2), Toby Webb, Dan Stidwell and Liam Chinn had Dropship’s goals.

Two goals from Nathan Williams earned Holman SC a 2-1 win against Perranwell Reserves who replied through Jordan Reeks.

Stithians proved too strong for St Agnes Reserves and ran out 3-1 winners with two goals from Ben Kempthorne and one by Treve Bale whilst a first-half goal was enough for Lizard Argyle to win 1-0 at Constantine.

A slick Falmouth United were convincing 5-0 winners at Mawnan Reserves after netting goals through George Harry (2), Archie Becconsall, Archie Caban (pen) and Kristian Atwood.

Goonhavern Athletic leapfrogged Penryn Athletic Reserves in division three (West) when they ran out 3-1 winners at Reen Park with goals from Albert Gosling-Brown, Ben Tidy and Jayden Andrew. Vincent Trevena scored for the visitors.

Perranporth Reserves handed RNAS Culdrose Reserves their first defeat after a 5-2 win with the goals coming from a Dan Gilbert hat-trick and Liam Taylor and Luke Watson-Read and St Ives Mariners edged out St Day III 3-1 at Vogue Park with goals from Stuart Lugg (2) and Matt Probin.

Ben George (2), Nick Hitchens, Rob Christopher and Ryan Semmens snapped up the goals in St Just Reserves’ 5-3 win at home to Carharrack who replied through Cal Pearson (2) and Steven Pilkington.

Division Four leaders Troon Reserves were held to an amazing 5-5 draw by Mawgan which enabled Holman SC Reserves to close the gap with a 2-0 win against Perranporth Reserves. Aidan Carveth and Ben Schofield scored the goals.

Two goals in each half by Chris Ward (2), Dan Reeve and Barry Penfold enabled Dropship Reserves to beat Chacewater 4-1 and Speak Out United won their first league game with a 3-1 win at Lizard Argyle Reserves with Charlie Bennett scoring for Argyle.

Newlyn Non-Athletico Reserves drew 4-4 with Wendron United IV with United scoring through Tom Orchard (2), Lee Pawley and Jack Wray and Probus Reserves and Falmouth Athletic drew 1-1 with James Holmes scoring for Probus and Luke Lawry replying for Athletic.

In the Percy Stephens Cup Pendeen Rovers Reserves landed a knockout blow on St Keverne with a 3-1 win. Matt Ruse scored for Saints.
