THERE’S no let-up in the pace at the top of the Kernow Stone St Piran Football League (West) with the leading three clubs pulling away from the remainder, writes Leon Prynn

Pacesetters Falmouth Town found bottom-placed St Just a real handful as they scraped home with a narrow 4-3 win with the Saints notching their goals through an Ashley Ellis hat-trick.

Second placed Illogan RBL are still hot on their tails after a convincing 4-1 win against Wendron United Reserves. Jordan Knuckey, Logan Capeling, Connor Arthur and Simon Ellis scored for Illogan and Darcy Knibb replied for United.

Helston Athletic Development brushed aside Praze-an-Beeble following a 5-0 victory with all the goals coming in the second half from Ollie Redd, Finn Costa, Osiah Spelman, Alfie Hicks and Liam Pascoe.

Perranwell were 5-3 winners away to Mousehole Development and Hayle proved too strong for Penryn Athletic and ran out 4-2 winners. Callum Pentecost and Jack Ashton scored for Athletic.

St Agnes suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat at home to Pendeen Rovers after the visitors scored through Alex Ralph (4), Tristan Prowse and Jacob Paull.

Mawnan cut Wendron Reserves’ lead at the top of division one (West) to a single point after winning 4-2 away to RNAS Culdrose.

Culdrose dominated the game and led 2-0 at half-time with both goals from Jack Martin, but in a remarkable finish the home side collapsed as Mawnan scored four goals in the final 17 minutes through Adam Keenan (2), Ben Richardson and Dominic Pullen.

Porthleven Reserves swept aside Hayle Reserves 6-1 with a comprehensive display after scoring through Daniel Parker (3), Riley Robertson (2) and Harry Luckett.

Illogan RBL Reserves suffered a second successive 4-0 defeat when they were beaten by Camborne SoM. Toby Alford (2), Jacob Phillips and Gabriel Camara-Xavier netted for the students.

St Ives Town overcame West Cornwall 3-0 and Ludgvan maintained their good start to the season with a 4-2 win over St Day Reserves.

In division four Dropship Reserves ran out 6-0 winners against Goonhavern Athletic Res after scoring through Dan Reeve (2), Chris Ward, Alex Clifford, Owen Kelley and Taylor Hosking.

Newlyn Non-Athletico Reserves also hit six goals in their high-scoring 6-5 win at home to Probus Reserves.

In the first round of the Bond Timber Cornwall Junior Cup Falmouth United romped to a 9-0 win against Constantine after scoring through Archie Caban (2), Kristian Attwood (2), George Harry, Toby Murfin, Reece Toms, Reuben Talbot and Ethan Body.

Perranwell Reserves found it tough going at Falmouth Athletic before edging to a 3-2 win with two goals from Elliott Jolly and one from Jordan Reeks. Luke Lawry and Gemel Mills had Athletic’s goals.

Frogpool/Cusgarne proved too strong for RNAS Culdrose Reserves to run out 4-0 winners and goals from Jayden Andrew (2), Albert Gosling-Brown (2), Louis Brown, Neil Currah, and Josh Fairhurst paved the way for Goonhavern Athletic’s 7-3 win against Newlyn Non-Athletico.

Lizard Argyle caused an upset with a 1-0 win against Stithians and Probus pushed Lanner all the way before Lanner won 4-3 with goals from Bradley Clements, Josh Ireson, David Mitchell and Dexter Strugnell.

Biggest win of the day belonged to Dropship who thumped St Keverne 11-1. Max Tarrant-Stafford scored for Saints.

Dawson Smith (2) and veteran Pete Maclean scored in Mawnan Reserves’ 3-1 win away to St Buryan and Liam Phillips (2) and Sam King scored the goals in Holman SC’s 3-0 win against St Agnes Res.

Chacewater were clear-cut 5-2 winners after Dylan Tiddy snapped up a brace for Carharrack and Pendeen Rovers are through after winning a penalty shootout 4-1 against Mawgan. The match had ended 3-3.

Perranporth made short work of St Day III with an 8-2 win thanks to goals from George Parkes (4), Oliver Keveren, Dan Gilbert, Ryan Faulkner and Ben Lawrence. Saints’ scorers were Nathan Chase and Josh Jennings.

St Ives Mariners ended Wendron United’s interest with a 3-1 win. Robin Watson had United’s goal.

Troon Reserves defeated St Just Reserves 2-1 and Speak Out United are into the second round after defeating Storm 4-2 with goals from Calum Bird, Ryan Mitchell, Michael Nicholls and an own goal. Storms’ goals came from Callum Sharp and Jordan Plant.
