IT proved a difficult weekend for the top two clubs in the Kernow Stone St Piran Football League (West) premier division, with Hayle holding leaders Illogan RBL to a draw and Pendeen Rovers winning 3-2 away to second placed Falmouth Town Reserves, writes Leon Prynn.
Neither side managed a goal in the tight encounter between Illogan RBL and Hayle at Oxland Park, but at Bickland Park Pendeen Rovers handed Falmouth Town Reserves a second successive defeat with goals from Matt Roberts (2) and Alex Ralph. Jack Davies and Kian Thomas replied for Town.
Helston Athletic Development took full advantage to close the gap with a mammoth 10-0 win against Wendron United Reserves with the goals coming from Ollie Redd (2), Regan Hull (2), Kian Fisher (2), Osiah Spelman, Josh Daniel, Joe Baker and Liam Pascoe.
Porthleven were 4-1 winners at Mullion with the goals coming from Dexter Bainbridge, Tom Booth, Lewis Hall and Willem Bowden.
Owen Capewell scored the only goal in Perranwell’s 1-0 win against St Just and Redruth United earned a welcome 2-1 win away to St Agnes thanks to goals from Dan Horler and Ben Medlin.
No league fixtures were played by division one clubs with most involved in the Evely Cup where West Cornwall picked up an excellent 1-0 win at RNAS Culdrose with a goal from Ben Kellow.
Ludgvan were narrow 1-0 winners against Falmouth United and St Ives Town won a close game with Camborne SoM 2-0 with goals from Kieran Eastwood and Rafael Morales.
There was a seven-goal thriller at Gala Park with Illogan RBL Reserves running out 4-3 winners against Porthleven Reserves. Port, who had two players sent off in the closing stages, scored through Jeavon Pryce (2) and Seb Round.
Goals from Dominic Roberts (2), Jack Medlin and Nathan Brown paved the way for Threemilestone’s 4-0 win against Perranwell Reserves and Troon were taken to extra time before beating Lizard Argyle 6-3.
Wendron United III avoided a banana skin with a 5-2 win against Lanner with Zach Alexander and Kayden Hague notching a brace of goals each and Ryan Bennetto scoring the other goal.
Holman SC’s match was abandoned with visitors Dropship leading 6-0. The home side, who only had seven players, suffered an injury which forced the tie to be halted. Tyler Prescott (2), Kai Cornish (2), Rhys Allen, Paul Robertson and Dan Stidwell scored the goals.
Frogpool/Cusgarne’s improved form in division two continued with a 3-1 win at St Buryan with William Waterton (2) and Chris Webb scoring the goals.
Mawnan Reserves won a tight game 2-1 against St Agnes Reserves after Dom Pullen and Seb Hennessy scored the goals. Saints’ goal came from Jamie Kuxhaus.
Constantine were beaten 7-0 by Probus and Newlyn Non-Athletico handed Stithians a 4-2 defeat at home with a hat-trick from Jack Liddicoat and a goal from Tom McGarry.
Falmouth DC saw off the challenge of St Keverne in division three with a 3-1 win. Jacob Avery scored for Saints.
Perranporth maintained the pressure with a 7-1 win at home to St Ives Mariners after scoring through Dan Gilbert (2), Liam Taylor, Rian Faulkner, Ben Lawrence, Oliver Keveren and David Parkes.
Goonhavern Athletic also kept pace with an emphatic 6-2 win at Penryn Athletic Reserves with Jayden Andrew (3), Tommy Rodda (2) and Louis Brown scoring their goals. Bradley Southeard and Jack Ashton scored for Athletic.
Craig Sanders scored for St Erme/Godolphin at Pendeen Rovers Reserves, but it wasn’t enough as Rovers ran out 3-1 winners with goals from Kalon Mayes (2) and Spencer Richings.
After suffering a number of heavy defeats, goals from Jago Clift and Louie Cornford enabled St Day III celebrate their first point of the season when they drew 2-2 with RNAS Culdrose Reserves.
Division four leaders Troon Reserves chalked up a 7-0 win at Storm and Dropship Reserves also hit seven goals in a 7-3- win at Goonhavern Athletic Res. Athletic scored through David Mitchell, Dan Scholes and John Staffieri whilst Dropship’s goals came from Alex Clifford (3), Dan Reeve (2), Chris Ward and Rob Penfold.
Goals from Logan Hotton (2) and Alistair Pollock earned Holman SC Reserves a 3-1 win against Falmouth Athletic who replied through Ethan Lee.
Newlyn Non-Athletico’s Reserves were comprehensive 6-0 winners at home to Lizard Argyle Reserves and goals from Ben Way, Harvey Smith, Tom Rhodes, Oliver Ionascu and Ben Daniel earned Probus Reserves a 5-0 win against Chacewater.
A first-minute goal by Luke Dunstan earned Speak Out United a great 1-0 win against third-placed Perranporth Reserves.
In the Percy Stephens Cup Șt Just Reserves defeated Wendron United IV 4-2 with Lee Pawley and Robin Watson scoring for United.
