THE first round of the Kernow Stone St Piran Football League’s Tracy Banfield Cup provided Saturday’s main action with Perranwell staging a great comeback, writes Leon Prynn

Trailing 2-0 at half-time to North Petherwin, Perranwell hit back to level the match at 2-2 with goals from Lachlan Brace and Jordan Reeks to force extra time and eventually set up a tense penalty shootout.

Perran’s star man proved to be goalkeeper Phil Rees who saved two spot kicks to send his side into the next round.

St Dominick ended Praze-an-Beeble’s interest with a 4-1 win and Mullion departed the cup after going down 3-0 at St Mawgan who scored through Aaron Rockey, Craig Allen and Tom Barnett.

After a goalless first half St Agnes are through to the second round after a 2-1 win against Redruth United.

Wendron United Reserves collapsed in the second half against Illogan RBL who cantered to a 7-0 win with five goals coming in the second half. Connor Arthur (3), Dominic Batchelor, Tom Hogarth, Aaron Myers and Jordan Knuckey had the goals.

Penryn Athletic’s tie at Saltash United was postponed.

Mawnan opened up a three point lead at the top of division one (West) after a very competitive 3-1 win against St Ives Town. Oakley Brom put Town in front after two minutes, but three second half goals from Jack Nancarrow, Kevin Morris and Adam Keenan earned the home side the points.

Ludgvan maintained their unbeaten record to despatch Troon 5-2 and Threemilestone pulled off a very good 3-2 win away to West Cornwall. Cameron Searle and Lee Chambers scored for the home side.

St Day Reserves upset the odds at Penlee Park by chalking up an impressive 6-2 win against Penzance Reserves with the goals coming from Jordan Richards (3), Daniel Richards (2) and Bailey Packenas. Kyeron Snowden and Adam Lewis scored for The Magpies.

There was no respite for Constantine in division two after they suffered a heavy 14-0 defeat by league leaders Dropship. Dan Stidwell (6), Tyler Prescott (3), Rhys Allen, Liam Chinn, Conner Hurrell, Finley Thomson and David Webb scored the goals.

Holman SC had an impressive 5-0 win at Probus after netting goals through Callum Faulkner, Kyle Furness, Sam King, Anton Peters and Nathan Williams.

Newlyn Non-Athletico enjoyed a fine 3-2 win against Falmouth United and St Agnes Reserves edged out Lanner 4-2.

Mawnan Reserves’ improved form continued with a 4-1 win away to Stithians. Liam Dent (2), Harry Rogers and Ryan James scored for Mawnan.

Lizard Argyle and Frogpool/Cusgarne ended all square at 2-2, but St Buryan raced to a 7-0 win against Perranwell Reserves with goals from Finlay Harry (2), Tyler Simmonds (2), Connor Nicholls, Jack Parker and Jago Perrin.

Falmouth DC are runaway leaders of division three after they defeated rivals Perranporth 2-1. Liam Taylor scored for Perran.

Mullion Reserves went down 4-1 at home to St Ives Mariners and St Just Reserves were 2-0 winners against St Keverne.

Penryn Athletic Res’ match with St Day III was postponed.

Troon Reserves maintained their lead at the top of division four when they defeated Chacewater 3-1.

Holman SC Reserves are still on their tail after they beat Probus Reserves 4-1 with goals from Ross Williams (2), Scott Thomas and Scott Goodchild. Lewis Hawkins scored for Probus.

Dropship Reserves are very much in the picture after beating Storm 7-0 with goals from Dan Reeve (2), Chris Ward, Owen Kelley, Taylor Hosking and Dylan Isaacs.

Piran Shorland scored for Falmouth Athletic in their 3-1 defeat at home to Lizard Argyle Reserves and Mawgan were 5-3 winners against Speak Out United. Matt Gilbert, William Mitchell and Josh Pellow scored for United.

Wendron United IV were narrow 2-1 winners against Goonhavern Athletic Reserves after scoring through Ross McCabe and James Mitchell. Jake Thomas scored for Goonhavern.

In the Cornwall Junior Cup Pendeen Rovers, who were trailing 2-1 at half-time, hit back brilliantly to defeat St Dennis 3-2 with goals from Kalon Mayes (2) and Liam Wallis. Rovers had a player sent off for picking up two yellow cards.

Goonhavern Athletic won a high-scoring Percy Stephens Cup second round tie against St Erme/Godolphin 4-3 after scoring through Jayden Andrew (2), Louis Brown and Albert Gosling-Brown. Brandon McDonnell and Craig Sanders scored for Saints.
