Tavistock 17 Penryn 9

The away day blues continued for Penryn when they suffered a disappointing defeat at lowly Tavistock on Saturday.

Penryn who were short of several regular players due to injuries and suspension, struggled to get to grips against their Devon counterparts.

All of Penryn’s points came from the boot of skipper James Salisbury via three penalty kicks.

Despite having plenty of possession and territory the Borough could not convert their pressure into tries. Several times it looked as though Penryn might break through but handling errors cost them dear at vital times.

Tavistock defended very well and Kept the away side out opting instead to give penalties away than concede tries.

The Devon side scored a try in the first half by Harry Kerswell and two in the second half by James Glover and Ethan Lamerton. Conor watt’s managed to kick one conversion.

This victory for Tavistock was their second of the season and lifts them above St.Ives in the table to tenth place and just two points behind ninth placed Penryn.

There is a week off for Penryn this week before they travel to The Mennaye to face Pirates Amateurs in another tough match on Saturday 30th November.
