Camborne received the County Division One Trophy from League sponsor Mr Nigel Jolly ahead of the scheduled home game with Launceston on Saturday.

There wasn’t any opposing team to join in the acclaim unfortunately as Launceston had conceded the game at 10am, being unable to field a team. As a result Camborne received the points to take them past 400 for the season.

As it turned out play would have been unlikely at Roskear in any event with rain and drizzle enveloping the ground for much of the afternoon. Camborne look to complete an undefeated season at Penzance on Saturday.

Having got away with it all summer the weather finally had a major impact on Saturday with much of the local programme badly disrupted as rain and drizzle swept across the west of the county.

Troon’s Jolly’s Drinks ECB Premier League game at Paul was called off at 3.30pm without a ball bowled. It meant Paul title ambitions were seriously dented and with Truro managing an 18 run win at Werrington they only need ten points from their final game with Newquay on Saturday. Troon end at home to Werrington, who now need a big win plus a favour from Newquay.

Redruth’s final home game only saw four overs of play. Proceedings didn’t start until 2pm at Trewirgie and within fifteen minutes the players were off with the abandonment following soon after. Ludgvan had made 20 without loss. Liam Norwell opened the bowling for Redruth having been given permission to play from Gloucestershire, having spent virtually all season recovering from injury.

Beacon had a wasted trip to Roche where play was eventually called off at 4.30pm without a ball bowled. The season ends at Tolcarne Road on Saturday with a derby against Redruth.

Elsewhere Redruth seconds game at Leedstown was cancelled as were the Barripper v Perranporth, Crofty Holman v Praze and Penzance seconds v Camborne seconds fixtures in division three. The Stithians against Mount Ambrose clash had been played earlier in the season.

The home games for Beacon and Troon seconds also failed to see a ball bowled in division four. One game that did go ahead was at the champions Mount Hawke & Porthtowan who defeated Falmouth thirds by five wickets.
