Penryn Athletic completed their Carlsberg SW Peninsula League division one west season with a 7-1 thrashing of Foxhole Stars.
The scoreline slightly flattered Penryn as Foxhole battled throughout and were only on the end of a heavy scoreline thanks to four late goals.
Penryn went into the match assured of a third place finish in the league but, with a final in the Durning Lawrence Charity Cup on Wednesday, players were very much playing for a place in the starting line-up for that match.
And Josh Burton did his chances no harm as he put Penryn into a fourth minute lead. Dan Richardson was the creator as he out-flanked the visiting defence and delivered an excellent low cross, which was side-footed into the net by Burton at the back post.
However, there was no chance of Penryn hitting the early cruise control as a long throw was flicked on for Jacob Rowe to send a header under the crossbar to level the scores. Burton was still proving a subtle menace out on the left though and was bundled over in the box to give Penryn the chance to go in front again.
Richardson duly stepped up and thrashed home his 18th goal of the campaign, from the penalty spot.
However, the match remained in the balance for much of the second half. Penryn managed to nudge themselves further in front on 65 minutes as a ball bounced in the box and substitute Rob Wearne thrashed a shot home from 10 yards out.
The confidence finally drained from the visitors in the 73rd minute when Adam Holland brought down Liam Streat in the area.
Richardson again successfully dispatched the penalty, despite some gamesmanship from Foxhole keeper and player-manager Ryan Holland.
That goal marked a torrid final 15 minutes for the visitors.
Wearne grabbed his second goal of the game as he intercepted a poorly hit back pass. Wearne then had a shot saved by Holland, only for Kayne Trevaskis to hammer in the rebound.
Trevaskis then completed the scoring as he tucked away a cross from Richardson.
