Helston Athletic top the Carlsberg SW Peninsula League division one west after the first game following their 13-0 thrashing of Foxhole Stars.
Helston are widely tipped to be the side to beat in that division this season and it proved to be the case on Saturday. Last season's top scorer Mark Goldsworthy grabbed four goals, while striker partner Liam Eddy bagged a brace. Dan Stidwell, Charlie Young, Jamie Thirkle and Hugh Howlett also got one goal each. Three own goals, including two in the last ten minutes, completed the rout.
Elsewhere Porthleven picked up a agood win by beating Vospers Oak Villa at home. Chris Morris scoring the only goal of the game in the 41st minute. Penryn Athletic are third in the table after they beat newly-promoted Sticker 4-1 at home.
