TWO brothers, David Grant (age 12) and James Grant (age 14) both Great Britain junior optimist sailors from Mylo,r have been presented with grants by the Rotary Club of Falmouth in association with SportsAid South West to help them achieve their sporting dreams.

The Rotary Club of Falmouth has generously agreed to match the charity's awards to give them a total of £500 each to help them with coaching, travel, training and equipment costs in their chosen sport.

James is a member of the Great Britain Optimist National u16 squad.

He is ranked No.1 in GB at u14 level on the Optimist Sailing list and third in GB at u16 level. James won the GB Inland Championships at u14 level in 2006 and represented GB at the World Championships in Uruguay in 2006. He hopes to compete at the Olympic Games in the longer term.

David, his younger brother, is also a member of the GB Optimist National u16 squad and is ranked No. 1 in GB at u13 level on the Optimist Sailing list and second in GB at u16 level.

He won the GB Nationals for Optimist at Junior level in August 2006 and was the first GB boat at the French Nationals in the Optimist class in July last year. Like his brother, one day he hopes to compete at senior level at the Olympic games.

SportsAid is a charity working to help talented young and disabled sportspersons compete at the highest levels in their chosen sports. Awards are given to competitors who are currently ranked in the top 10 nationally of their sport or are regular members of national age group squads.
