IN the latest round of matches the Cornwall Darts team made the long trip to Morecambe to play former Premier Division champions Lancashire.
In the B team matches on the Saturday the ladies got Cornwall off to a good start with a 4-2 win and this was followed by a 6-6 draw in the men's match to give Cornwall a 10-8 overnight lead.
On Sunday the A team ladies followed the example of their B team counterparts by winning 4-2 to put the overall score at 14-12 in favour of the visitors, but everyone knew that Lancashire had a very strong men's A team. However, the Cornwall men won four of the 12 games to make the overall result an 18-18 draw, a much better result for Cornwall than many people had predicted.
Match award winners for Cornwall were - Men's A: Sean Johns (Week St Mary) 28.52 single dart average; Women's A: Sue Shepherd (Camborne) 19.44; Mens B: Kevin De Rosa (Kilkhampton) 28.81; Women's B: Debbie Chilcott (Truro) 17.68.
Cornwall's next match is on February 10/11 against Hampshire at Mount Charles Social Club, St Austell.
