Former oyster dredger Gabrielle Smith, who lives at Sheldon House nursing home in Falmouth, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday surrounded by family, friends and staff.
Gabbie, as she is known, was born in London where she attended convent schools and was brought up by her grandmother and several aunts.
She moved to Falmouth in the 1960s and took on several part time jobs, which included the oyster dredging. She enjoyed reading and painting in her spare time.
To celebrate her birthday at the weekend, staff at the home laid on a chocolate cake and buffet tea and Gabbie was visited by her two sons, Ron and Geoff, who have inherited her artistic skills.
