Police are investigating why a car was found parked on the tide line at Maenporth beach on Monday morning.
Officers were called to the beach a little before 8am, along with the coastguard team, where the waves had come over the bonnet of the vehicle.
A police spokesperson said: "The tide was coming in and starting to cover the vehicle. There was no one in the vehicle.
"It looked like it was floating away."
Police have started investigating in the hopes of tracking down the owner of the Falmouth-registered car, and find out why it was left on the beach.
