St Ives Beer Festival has been cancelled following declining attendance numbers, the organisers Kernow CAMRA have announced.
The Guild Hall in the centre of St Ives has been the home of the summer beer festival for a number a years, but in recent years the event has failed to break even, with the organisers blaming the "decreasing number of beer enthusiasts attending the festival" and "dependency on travel links."
Kernow CAMRA press officer Sonia Bunce said: "Although Kernow CAMRA is a non-profit making organisation, due to these losses the committee has made the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s St Ives beer festival.
"We would like to thank all CAMRA members who actively helped to put on the festival, the festival goers that have attended over the years, the residents of St Ives and the Guild Hall who have all made the past years a very pleasurable experience.
"We will look at opportunities to hold a summer festival in the future. We are open to collaborative ventures, or suggestions of suitable towns and venues that are easily accessed by bus and train."
Kernow CAMRA said that although the St Ives event has been cancelled, Falmouth Beer Festival will again be held at the Princess Pavilion on October 20 to 22, and following an "overwhelming success" in 2015 it will have a wider range of beer on offer.
