Smoke could be seen pouring from an electrical substation in Helston late yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters from the town were called out just before 3.50pm to St Johns Road, as a fire had broken out in the large electric transformer there.
The crew got in position with a jet, a hose reel and two smoke extinguishers ready to tackle the fire, once an engineer from Western Power had isolated the power.
However, after checking the unit the engineer confirmed that a circuit breaker in the substation had isolated the electric and as a result the fire service was no longer needed.
