A large wood store has caught fire at United Downs, between Falmouth and Redruth, in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters from Tolvaddon and Falmouth were called to a large barn fire at around 3am, and have split into two main groups to fight the blaze.
The fire service reported at around 10am: "Crews have two ground monitors and three branches in use to extinguish the fire. Western Power have isolated power to the building, and Devon and Cornwall Police are also on scene."
The fire covered a 30 square metre site, with two buildings containing wood for domestic use, and was well alight on the crew’s arrival.
At 8am a mechanical scoop arrived to help break up the heart of the fire, and good progress was being made, although the fire is still burning.
A fire service spokesperson added: "The cause of the fire is currently unknown and fire investigation is being arranged to be carried out when the fire has been extinguished."
