There is a warning to drivers travelling through Helston town centre this evening after a large hole opened up in the main road.
The two foot wide crevice is on an already tricky corner, with parked cars, where the bottom of Coinagehall Street meets the top of Monument Road.
A barrier has recently been placed around the hole to stop car wheels from going down it, but drivers travelling in both directions are advised to approach slowly and with care, as it is now a blind corner into oncoming traffic.
Earlier this evening members of the public were forced to flag down approaching motorists to warn them of the unexpected danger, as there appeared to be no authorities around and no barriers in place.
A council workman has since told the Packet that the hole is much larger than the area that can be seen above ground and is believed to stretch as far as a nearby manhole cover, where cracks have formed in the surrounding tarmac.
