More than 45 emergency calls were made by members of the public to just one fire last night when it broke out at a beach.
Flames were spotting engulfing an area of the sand dunes at Perranporth, just before 10pm.
A 25m by 25m of gorse had caught alight.
The fire is said to have spread quickly, with reports that it doubled in size within five minutes.
Crews from Perranporth and Newquay were sent, with firefighters using beaters, plus two special 'wildlife fire backpacks' to put out the flames.
The Perranporth crew took both its major fire appliance and a special light 4x4 vehicle, in order to get quick access to the fire.
