ON a day which had already seen two separate vehicle fires, a third one took place on the Lizard Peninsula yesterday afternoon.
Fire completely destroyed a car near Shortlanesend early in the morning, before a double decker bus blaze at Grampound kept ten firefighters busy a little later.
At around 2pm, St Keverne firefighters were called to an incident at Traboe Cross, near Goonhilly on the B3293.
The Range Rover was well alight on the arrival of crews, who quickly got to work wearing two breathing apparatus sets, extinguishing the fire using two hose reel jets.
On the fire stations's facebook page a spokesman said that they suspected the fire began due to an electrical fault in the engine bay.
The crew returned to station at 3.40pm and filled the appliance with water, serviced all equipment and were ready for operational duties by 4pm.
