A 23-YEAR-OLD Zoology graduate who is aiming to raise thousands of pounds for charity by walking the coast of mainland Britain arrived in the Falmouth area this week.
Nat Severs arrived on Sunday evening having trekked all the way from his home town of Portsmouth, which he left on January 10.
“Cornwall holds a special place for me on this journey as I used to holiday here when I was younger around Mullion Cove and The Lizard,” said Nat.
He is raising money for the Stroke Association, the Mammal Society and Southampton General Hospital’s Paediatric Physiotherapy department, to buy a new rehabilitation chair for under fives who have suffered acute acquired brain injuries “I am really looking forward to walking through it and meeting as many people as possible. It also marks the most southerly point in the entire 7,000 miles,” he added.
His journey covers every inch of coast and will take around 340 days to complete meaning he should hopefully arrive home just before Christmas.
Accompanied only by a large rucksack carrying his tent and kit, Nat, will be camping most nights and is hoping to raise at least £1,000 each for the three charities.
The Packet’s sports editor Simon Larkins, who is Nat’s cousin, added: “I think it is great what Nat is trying to achieve and following the coast around this area of Cornwall will be very picturesque. So far the weather hasn’t been too bad for him either.”
